New Chairman takes over

06-Jan-2012

We are delighted to announce that Mark Reckless MP (Rochester & Strood) has taken over the Chairmanship of Campaign for an Independent Britain. A local Medway man, Mark stood as Conservative candidate for the Labour-held Rochester constituency in both the 2001 and 2005 general elections, before finally winning the seat in May 2010.

An economist by profession, he is one of the most highly regarded members of the new intake of MPs and is seen by his Parliamentary colleagues as independent-minded and forthright. He regularly speaks in the House of Commons on Britain’s relationship with the EU, was a prime mover in the campaign for an EU Referendum, and led the opposition to Britain’s participation in international bailouts for Eurozone countries.
